The FSB released footage of the arrest of a Nizhny Novgorod resident who pledged allegiance to IS*

      The 2nd Western District Military Court handed down a sentence against a 23-year-old resident of Nizhny Novgorod who was found guilty of participating in the activities of an international terrorist organization, as well as of publicly calling for the commission of terrorist acts.

      According to the press service of the FSB Directorate for the Nizhny Novgorod Region, operational-search activities established that the young man swore an oath of allegiance to the banned terrorist structure. Subsequently, as a member of it, he posted materials online propagating terrorism.

      The investigative department of the regional FSB Directorate initiated and investigated criminal cases against him under Part 2 of Article 205.2 and Part 2 of Article 205.5 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

      The court sentenced him to 11 years of imprisonment: he will spend the first three years in prison, and the remaining term in a strict-regime correctional colony.

      The verdict has not yet come into legal force.
