OMK volunteers cleaned the Chusovaya River of trash and submerged trees.

      Employees of the Chusovoy plant of the United Metallurgical Company (OMK) held an environmental campaign to clean the Chusovaya River in Perm Krai for the third time. The initiative brought together divers and volunteers who worked both underwater and on the shore.

      The divers inspected the riverbed and channel, removing sunken wood and various debris. At the same time, volunteers on the bank collected household waste left by visitors.

      The event took place as part of Alexey Filimonov’s project titled "Divers Back in Action." The initiative has won the OMK Partnership contest for social and charitable initiatives for the third year in a row. Thanks to the grant, Alexey acquired equipment for underwater work, which made it possible to clean the river more effectively.

      According to Filimonov, the site for the campaign was not chosen by chance. This stretch of the river has an especially large number of sunken trees that are not visible from the surface. He noted that such obstacles pose a danger to boats and catamarans.

      In previous years volunteers also raised tires, metal objects and logs from the bottom of the Chusovaya, and removed trash left by people from the coastal zone.

      As emphasized by the head of OMK’s Department of Corporate Culture, Social and Special Projects, Ekaterina Koshchenko, the company creates conditions under which employees’ initiatives receive support and develop into systemic projects. She added that the "OMK Partnership" contest helps caring people like Alexey Filimonov implement their ideas and bring real benefits to their native region.
