From September 22 to 25, the fourth regional student sports festival "Nizhegorodskaya Sotka" was held in Nizhny Novgorod. The event was traditionally organized by R.E. Alekseev Nizhny Novgorod State Technical University (NSTU). Competitions took place at the university sports complex venues and in Victory Park on the embankment of the Rowing Canal.

This year the festival gathered more than 500 participants from 15 universities and vocational colleges of the Nizhny Novgorod region. Students competed in 15 sports disciplines.

The National Research University "Presidential Academy" team was represented by 45 athletes who competed in 10 sports. In six of them Presidential Academy students were among the winners and medalists.

On the first day of the competition the teams for table tennis and 3x3 basketball took to the courts.

The table tennis team, consisting of Anna Efremova (Faculty of Economics) and Andrey Kopyrin (college), confidently beat their opponents in the preliminary round and the semifinal, but lost to the NSTU team in the final. Result — the festival silver.

The men's 3x3 basketball team also won second place. The team included college students Eldar Akhmedov, Sergey Vashurin, Pavel Ilichev and Alexey Kondrashev. In the semifinal they beat NSTU, but in the final they lost to the NGATU team.

On the second day the institute's athletes won medals in several disciplines.

The kettlebell team distinguished itself in the "kettlebell snatch" event: Andrey Gorbachev (Faculty of Law) finished first, and the team took second place in the overall team standings.

In the track relay the men's and women's teams fell just short of the podium, placing fourth.

The darts and shooting teams brought the academy two more prize results. In darts Angelina Iskenderova took first place, Alisa Volikova third. In air pistol shooting Mark Stoyankin finished fourth.

The Presidential Academy students finished the festival with six medals and proudly opened the new sports season.
