      Thirty-seven families from Dzerzhinsk were honored at the Palace of Culture of Chemists at an event dedicated to Large Families Day of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, which is being celebrated for the first time this year. The guests of honor were congratulated by the head of Dzerzhinsk, Mikhail Klinkov, and the deputy chairman of the City Duma, Viktor Romanov. "At one time, 5–6 children in a family was considered normal. A special culture arose in large families, and there was an opportunity to pass traditions from the older to the younger. Today in Dzerzhinsk these family values are being revived. It is a tremendous happiness to have a large, close-knit family in which warm, respectful relationships are nurtured toward one another. I wish that your families always have love, warmth, respect and that sense of mutual support that is passed down from generation to generation. And, of course, on our part we support you and will continue to support you," congratulated the guests of the event Mikhail Klinkov.

      According to large-family mother Anastasiya Kostrova, the greatest happiness in life is children. "They bring joy and help you look at the world differently, but they grow up very quickly. My husband and I involve the children in community activities: we take part in clean-up days together, plant trees, actively participate in the 'Victory Volunteers' movement, and help collect humanitarian aid. The time we spend together is the most precious to us," she shared.

      Oleg and Inna Nikitenko raise six children and consider them the main meaning of life. "Having many children is not easy, but they are what we live for. Now the older ones already help us in raising the younger ones. The most important thing is to raise them to be kind, responsible, honest," said the head of the family, Oleg Nikitenko.

      Recall that in 2025, at the initiative of the governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Gleb Nikitin, a new regional holiday was established — Large Families Day, which is observed on the last Sunday of September. According to the Ministry of Social Policy of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, more than 36,600 large families currently live in the region. In Dzerzhinsk there are 1,880 large families raising 6,116 children.
