September 24, 2025, 4:16 p.m. Society Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Gleb Nikitin and the head of the Federal Forestry Agency Ivan Sovetnikov, together with members of a school forestry program, took part in planting trees in Victory Park in Nizhny Novgorod, the regional government press service reported.

The "Heirs of Victory — Guardians of the Forest" campaign took place within the framework of the All-Russian forum "Forests of Russia" (12+). The forum is being held in line with the objectives of the federal project "Forest Conservation" of the national project "Ecological Well‑Being."

Gleb Nikitin emphasized that it is important to add feelings and emotions to such events.

"Today we are hosting an all-Russian forum in Nizhny Novgorod that has brought together forestry workers from across the country, and it seems very symbolic to me that we mark the opening of the forum by planting beautiful pines here that will grow and become a new alley," the head of the Nizhny Novgorod Region said.

During the campaign, students of School No. 123 in the Leninsky District were inducted as junior foresters. This school forestry unit became the 50th in the region and the first in Nizhny Novgorod. After the ceremony, participants laid flowers at the "City of Labor Valor" stele.

Ivan Sovetnikov noted that the opening of the 50th forestry unit is the development of a movement in which knowledge gained from experienced foresters is combined with practical work to preserve and increase forest resources. He expressed confidence that these skills will help students in choosing a profession.

Also taking part in the event were Andrey Gribennikov, director of the Department of State Policy and Regulation in the Field of Forest Resources; Vyacheslav Gorev, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Nizhny Novgorod Region; Eduard Leontyev, head of the Department of Forestry for the Volga Federal District; Roman Vorobyov, regional Minister of Forestry and Wildlife Protection; Dmitry Trusov, Deputy Volga Interregional Environmental Prosecutor; and Yaroslav Serpukhov, Nizhny Novgorod Environmental Prosecutor.

Recall that since 2025, by order of President Vladimir Putin, the national project "Ecological Well‑Being" has been in effect in Russia, continuing the tasks previously set out in the national project "Ecology." The project is aimed at caring for the environment and improving people's quality of life.
