Nizhny Novgorod Region Development Corporation and the SEZ "Minsk" signed a cooperation agreement.

      Anton Garanin, Deputy General Director of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Development Corporation, and Anatoly Kalinin, head of the administration of the "Minsk" free economic zone (FEZ), signed a cooperation agreement between the organizations. The signing ceremony took place as part of the 3rd International Forum of Special Economic Zones, held in Nizhny Novgorod on September 18.

      Under the agreement, the parties agreed to assist enterprises planning or implementing investment projects in the territory of the Republic of Belarus and the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

      "The Development Corporation is actively establishing cooperation with foreign colleagues; earlier we concluded a cooperation agreement with the Vitebsk FEZ. I am confident that joint work will increase the investment attractiveness of our regions and also open up new opportunities for entrepreneurs from Nizhny Novgorod and Belarus, contributing to cross-border industrial cooperation," said Anton Garanin.

      The Development Corporation and the "Minsk" FEZ also intend to hold joint events aimed at familiarizing potential investors with the opportunities for doing business in the Nizhny Novgorod Region and the Republic of Belarus.

      "I am convinced that the signing of the agreement between the 'Minsk' free economic zone and the Nizhny Novgorod Region Development Corporation will be an important step in strengthening bilateral regional cooperation aimed at developing cooperative ties between enterprises of the regions and implementing joint initiatives, which, in turn, will contribute to the further growth of our countries' economies," emphasized Anatoly Kalinin.

      Earlier, the Nizhny Novgorod Region Development Corporation signed cooperation agreements with the development agencies of the Murmansk and Saratov regions, as well as with the administration of the "Vitebsk" free economic zone.

      It should be recalled that the Nizhny Novgorod Region Development Corporation was created at the initiative of Governor Gleb Nikitin. The organization assists in implementing projects at all stages — from providing information about the region, possible support measures, and site inspections to commissioning of facilities, taking on obligations to interact with executive authorities, local self-government bodies, natural monopoly entities and other organizations.

      To date, the Development Corporation is supporting over 330 investment projects with a total investment volume of more than 367 billion rubles.
