VTB predicted the widespread adoption of AI agents in Russia's major companies.

      By 2030 there will not be a single major company on the Russian market that has not implemented its own or third-party AI agents into its processes, said Vadim Kulik, Vice President — Chairman of the Management Board of VTB, at the bank’s session “On the Threshold of Meeting AI Agents” at the international forum Kazan Digital Week — 2025. These AI agents will solve tasks both to support internal company processes and in servicing customers.

      “Today, the implementation of AI agents based on large language models, which would perform various tasks in companies, is becoming one of the main trends of the Russian technological landscape. Companies are both developing their own solutions and commissioning their development exclusively for their own tasks, as well as implementing off-the-shelf solutions from third-party developers. It will take relatively little time, and by 2030 there will not be a single major company on the Russian market in which AI agents do not operate,” said Vadim Kulik.

      According to him, AI agents will solve various user tasks — among company employees and clients — and will also interact with each other to solve these tasks, emphasized Vadim Kulik.

      “By some expert estimates,” the top manager continued, “the most advanced AI agents, including in the form of self-learning androids with general intelligence and adaptive behavior, can be expected as soon as within two years. Such robot assistants will effectively become a familiar household gadget,” the top manager added.

      “We face the implementation of a new mass technology that must be adapted for interaction with various users, including those who are not very technologically advanced — because AI assistants may prove to be more in demand precisely among older audiences.

      The mass adoption of AI agents, in turn, will lead to increased load on existing communication networks and will also require large-scale development of IT infrastructure,” the top manager summed up.

      An AI agent is a solution that, through data analysis, can undertake chains of actions leading to the completion of a task set by a user. In the process of solving a task, an AI agent can make decisions about selecting optimal scenarios and act autonomously, without user involvement.

      Unlike an assistant, which reacts to user requests, an agent initiates actions itself and manages the process. It is an autonomous digital system capable of reasoning, learning and acting without constant human supervision.
