Nizhny Novgorod businesses can join a public offer to voluntarily ban the sale of vapes.

      Retail companies in the Nizhny Novgorod Region have been given the opportunity to join a public pledge providing for a voluntary cessation of the sale of vapes — both nicotine-containing and nicotine-free. This initiative was earlier proposed by the region's governor, Gleb Nikitin.

      The reason for creating the pledge was a meeting dedicated to the circulation of nicotine-containing products. Representatives of the largest business associations, federal and regional retail chains, as well as shopping center management companies, took part in the discussion.

      As explained by the Minister of Industry, Trade and Entrepreneurship of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Maksim Cherkasov, the document is aimed at the phased removal of vapes from the region's stores before the corresponding changes in legislation come into force.

      According to him, this will allow businesses to adapt in advance to the new requirements and already reduce the volume of sales of such products now.

      By joining the pledge, entrepreneurs undertake not to replenish stocks of vapes and to cease their retail sale until an official ban is introduced at the federal level.

      Both legal entities and individual entrepreneurs conducting trade activities in the territory of the Nizhny Novgorod Region are invited to take part in the initiative. You can review the terms and sign the document on the Ministry of Industry’s website.

      According to the Chestny Znak system, more than 1.9 thousand entrepreneurs engaged in the sale of vapes are registered in the region.

      Earlier, the governor's proposal to ban the sale of such goods received support from the region's leading business associations. Among them are the regional branches of Business Russia, Opora Russia, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Association of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
