Game wardens and foresters of the Nizhny Novgorod Region received new equipment for their professional holiday.

      New equipment was handed over to workers of the forestry and hunting sectors — to employees of the territorial bodies of the Ministry of Forestry of the Nizhny Novgorod Region: 19 snowmobiles, four boats and two units of patrol equipment. In the ceremonial event timed to two professional holidays — Forest Workers’ Day (September 21) and Hunting Economy Workers’ Day (September 13) — participated Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Ivan Kargin, Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Evgeny Lyulin, Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Denis Bakiev, Chairman of the Legislative Assembly Committee on Ecology and Natural Resources Vladislav Atmakhov, Head of the Department of Forestry for the Volga Federal District Eduard Leontyev, Minister of Forestry and Protection of Animal World of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Roman Vorobyev, Prosecutor of the Nizhny Novgorod Interdistrict Environmental Prosecutor’s Office Yaroslav Serpukhov, as well as industry representatives.

      Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Ivan Kargin congratulated all those present on their professional holiday.

      “Nizhny Novgorod’s forests cover more than 4 million hectares — that is a large part of the region’s territory. The true value lies not only in the forests themselves but in the people who tirelessly work to protect and restore nature. The region has more than a thousand employees of the Ministry of Forestry and its subordinate institutions who faithfully serve the cause of protecting forests and wildlife, being true heroes and masters of their craft. It is they who must train a new generation of specialists, passing on their knowledge and the experience accumulated over the years. I express my gratitude to each of you for your daily service to our region, its residents and future generations,” said Ivan Kargin.

      On the eve of the professional holiday, 212 industry employees were awarded federal and regional honors from the Government of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, the region’s Legislative Assembly, and the Ministry of Forestry and Protection of Animal World. The best forest plot tenants and hunting users were also recognized.

      “For the first time in the history of the Nizhny Novgorod Region we are awarding honorary titles to distinguished workers of the forestry and hunting sectors. This is a mark of high recognition for the labor of all those who care for the forestry wealth of our region. Modern equipment, unmanned aerial vehicles, a video monitoring system and the selfless labor of workers — all this makes it possible to effectively preserve and multiply our forest resources. The region leads the Volga Federal District in reforestation: last year 13 thousand hectares were restored — almost a third more than the district average. In addition, nearly 6 thousand hectares of new lands were transferred to the forest fund. This result was made possible by close cooperation between the legislative authorities, the government and the work of forestry employees. It is precisely this unity that allows the Nizhny Novgorod Region to be among the leading regions of Russia,” noted Evgeny Lyulin, Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

      Vladislav Atmakhov, Chairman of the Legislative Assembly Committee on Ecology and Natural Resources, also congratulated the sector’s specialists.

      “The forests and wildlife of the Nizhny Novgorod region deserve special attention and care. The professional activities of hunting and forestry workers contribute to the preservation of the region’s natural wealth by restoring forests and supporting animal populations. The merits of specialists are recognized by the introduction in the region of honorary titles ‘Honored Worker of the Hunting Economy of the Nizhny Novgorod Region’ and ‘Honored Worker of Forestry of the Nizhny Novgorod Region’, which emphasize the importance of their efforts, nature protection and the development of essential industries. These initiatives strengthen the prestige of the professions, inspire improvement and attract talented youth, ensuring a sustainable future and prosperity for our region,” stressed Vladislav Atmakhov.

      The importance of the hunting sector in the life of the region was also noted by the Minister of Forestry and Protection of Animal World of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Roman Vorobyev.

      “Thanks to the work of state hunting inspectors, the Nizhny Novgorod Region manages to preserve rare animal species, maintain order and discipline in hunting grounds, and create favorable conditions for the development of the hunting economy. Specialists face difficult tasks every day: protecting and reproducing wild animals, combating poachers, monitoring population numbers. The development of the hunting economy requires constant technical renewal. The fleet of specialized equipment is regularly replenished, and today a ceremonial handover of 19 new snowmobiles and four boats took place. This will make it possible to effectively preserve biodiversity and maintain ecological balance in the forested areas of our region,” said Roman Vorobyev.

      The development of the forestry and hunting sectors is also supported by the implementation of the federal project “Forest Conservation,” which is part of the national project “Ecological Well-being,” within the framework of which this year forests in the region will be restored on a total area of 14 thousand hectares.
