The renovated Friendship Alley is now open for walks in Nizhny Novgorod.

      Culture and leisure. The Alley of Friendship in the 800th Anniversary of Nizhny Novgorod Park has been reopened after renovations. The space is located on the slope between Zalomov Street and Pokhvalinsky Descent, the Institute for the Development of Urban Environment of the Nizhny Novgorod Region said.

      The alley was established in 2011 in honor of the 20th anniversary of the city’s opening to foreigners — during the Soviet era Nizhny Novgorod was considered closed. The impetus for its renovation was the 2024 BRICS summit.

      As a result of the improvements, the alley now has more areas for quiet relaxation, improved lighting, and convenient connections to other sections of the park.

      Particular attention is drawn to decorative flowerbeds shaped like little boats with flagpoles displaying the flags of Nizhny Novgorod’s sister cities.

      Information panels detailing the history of the site are planned to be installed on the alley in the near future. Also, by the end of the year a ramp will be built here to provide a comfortable descent from Zalomov Street.

      It was previously reported that a circular walking route around Kremlin Boulevard has opened.
