Automotive expert Ladushkin explained what the adjustment of the recycling fee will lead to.

      Society — The Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia has proposed introducing a new criterion for the recycling fee — the engine power of a car. The head of the ministry, Anton Alikhanov, predicted that such measures would bring 40 to 60 billion rubles into the economy. Auto expert Evgeny Ladushkin told the "360" TV channel about the possible consequences.

      Ladushkin believes that 150–160 horsepower is the optimal figure for a base model car. This should stimulate production growth in Russia, but could lead to some foreign manufacturers leaving due to reduced demand.

      The expert found it difficult to predict the impact on prices, noting that it all depends on market saturation. If a shortage of such cars occurs, prices may rise. But currently this is a broad segment with high competition, mainly thanks to AvtoVAZ.

      Some manufacturers may try to raise prices, while others will keep them at the current level. In the end, those who offer more favorable terms will win.

      Ladushkin emphasized the importance of improving product quality and the image of the Lada brand to overcome the psychological barrier associated with their 1990s reputation.
