Six students from Nizhny Novgorod institutions of secondary vocational education (SVE) will represent the region in the final of the High Technologies Championship, which will be held from 17 to 21 September in Veliky Novgorod. This year the final stage of the large-scale competition will bring together 9,000 participants and mentors from 85 regions of Russia and 25 countries. The Nizhny Novgorod contestants will demonstrate their skills in competencies relevant to high-tech manufacturing, the digital economy and import substitution.
As reported by the regional Ministry of Education and Science, the High Technologies Championship, like the "Professionals" championship, is part of the All‑Russian championship movement for professional skills "Professionals". This movement, in turn, is included in the federal project "Professionalitet" of the national project "Youth and Children".
The championship movement is aimed at supporting talented youth, strengthening the workforce potential and ensuring Russia's technological sovereignty. Thousands of employers are involved in its events at all stages. This allows the requirements of the real sector of the economy for the quality of workforce training to be synchronized with the secondary vocational education system.
"These are the most in-demand competencies for the economy: work in close cooperation with thousands of employers across the country, high standards of specialist training and the opportunity for participants to realize themselves in their chosen field," emphasized Russia's Minister of Education Sergey Kravtsov.
The Nizhny Novgorod delegation includes Roman Burmistrov from Borsky Gubernia College (competency "Fiber-optic communication technologies for unmanned aerial systems"), Daniil Belov from Gorodetsky Gubernia College ("Design and operation of autonomous uncrewed underwater vehicles / remotely operated uncrewed underwater vehicles"), Timofey Bakushkin from Vyksunsky Metallurgical College named after A.A. Kozeradsky ("Service Engineer for Industrial Equipment in Industry 4.0"), Nikita Mokeev from Lukoyanovsky Gubernia College ("Intelligent Agricultural Production Systems"), Kirill Abrosimov from Perevoz Construction College ("Cyberimmune Autonomy") and Alexander Gromov from Nizhny Novgorod Radio Engineering College ("Digital Twin").
Today the young men departed for the final in Veliky Novgorod. Kirill Abrosimov said that during the selection stage he demonstrated his skills by "teaching" a firefighting robot to move safely through a city even under conditions of cyberattacks.
"The tasks in the final are much more difficult. I will need to program an autonomous robot to operate at a real oil refinery. I trained hard, improving my programming and analytical skills," the student shared.
The final of the High Technologies Championship includes not only the competitive program but also discussions on such topical issues as mentor competencies, artificial intelligence and information security.
"The championship movement is becoming increasingly popular among our students year by year. Last year only two Nizhny Novgorod students took part in the High Technologies Championship, and this year there are already six. Last year the Nizhny Novgorod participants managed to win prize places in the final. Based on that successful experience, we developed special training programs for this year's participants. They include a large number of practical classes, psychological preparation and drills for various emergency situations. I am confident our students will perform with dignity," said Mikhail Puchkov, Minister of Education and Science of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
As a reminder, the national project "Youth and Children" has been implemented by the order of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin since 2025. It includes nine federal projects and programs: "Russia — the Land of Opportunities", "We Are Together", "Russia in the World", "All the Best for Children", "Leading Schools", "Teachers and Mentors", "Creating a Network of Modern Campuses", "Universities for a Generation of Leaders" and "Professionalitet".
