The second group of volunteers from the Nizhny Novgorod Region has departed to provide assistance to residents of the Kursk Region. The first team has already successfully completed its work, and now the baton is being taken up by 20 new volunteers who will work at a humanitarian warehouse, sorting and distributing aid.
The group's dispatch was organized by the Volunteer Center of the Nizhny Novgorod Region and the regional headquarters of the all-Russian movement #WEARETOGETHER, with the support of the regional government.
Among the Nizhny Novgorod volunteers are members of the search teams "Volunteer NN," "LizaAlert," and concerned residents of Nizhny Novgorod, Balakhna, Bogorodsk, Dzerzhinsk, Chkalovsk, and Gorodets.
Over the course of the week, until 22 September, the Nizhny Novgorod team will have other important tasks to address — working at temporary accommodation points, and, if necessary, sorting and delivering targeted assistance to those who need it most.
"Our strength is in unity, and it is extremely important for us to provide not one-off but systemic assistance. The first group of Nizhny Novgorod volunteers visited the Kursk Region in August. The volunteers successfully completed their work, helping to restore social infrastructure and rebuild residential houses destroyed in Rylsk by Nazi bombings. Today people from Nizhny Novgorod are ready to help again. Our team is already working at the humanitarian warehouse in Kursk, where additional hands are greatly needed," commented Maria Samodelkina, General Director of the Volunteer Center of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
The Volunteer Center of the Nizhny Novgorod Region and the regional headquarters of the all-Russian movement #WEARETOGETHER are already beginning preparations for the next trip to Kursk, which is planned for early October. Anyone who wishes to participate and is 18 or older can apply.
