On 15 September the results of the elections of deputies to representative bodies in the Nizhny Novgorod region were officially summed up. Voting took place in 25 municipal and 4 urban districts of the region, including the Nizhny Novgorod urban district.
The total number of voters included in the lists across the region was 1,822,835. 470,375 voters took part in the vote — turnout was 25.80%.
The voter lists of the Nizhny Novgorod urban district included 1,085,541 people. 231,526 voters cast their ballots, which is 21.33% of the total.
Head of the regional election commission Margarita Andreeva noted that the electoral campaign was organized and coherent. According to her, a high level of preparation was ensured by members of election commissions at all levels. She thanked the region’s residents for their participation, emphasizing the particular significance of the votes of those who came to the polling station for the first time.
At a meeting of the regional election commission held on 15 September, the elections of deputies to the first convocation of the Nizhny Novgorod City Duma in 39 single-mandate districts were recognized as having taken place, and their results declared valid.
Margarita Andreeva also reported that no violations capable of affecting the results were recorded during the electoral campaign and on voting days. According to her, the voting was legitimate and within the law.
According to preliminary data based on the protocols of district election commissions and information from the GAS "Elections" system, 428 deputy mandates were filled in the region. Of these, 12 mandates were won by independents, the remaining 416 by candidates from political parties.
In particular, the United Russia party received 337 mandates, the CPRF — 33, the LDPR — 23, "A Just Russia – Patriots – For Truth" — 15, "New People" — 7, and the "Russian Party of Pensioners for Social Justice" — 1 mandate.
The first convocation of the Nizhny Novgorod City Duma includes 39 deputies. Of these, 28 represent United Russia, 5 the CPRF, 3 the LDPR, 2 "A Just Russia – For Truth" and 1 the "New People" party.
