      Since the beginning of the year, the mobile diagnostic units "Health Trains" have made 175 trips to municipalities in the Nizhny Novgorod Region. Each week five medical teams operate in the region simultaneously. The specialists have all the resources necessary for patients to undergo preventive medical examinations.

      As the Nizhny Novgorod Region Ministry of Health reported, to date the medical teams have visited almost 520 settlements in the region. Doctors have been to both district centers and many remote villages and hamlets.

      "Since the beginning of the year almost 30,000 people have turned to the specialists. About 51.4 thousand medical consultations and over 106.2 thousand various examinations have been performed," said the N.A. Semashko Nizhny Novgorod Regional Clinical Hospital, on the basis of which the mobile medical teams are formed.

      Of the total number of examinations, almost 11.8 thousand were fluorographic screenings. They allow detection of lung diseases at early stages, even when symptoms have not yet appeared. Fluorography is important for early diagnosis of tuberculosis, as the disease can be latent. In addition, the examination can help detect pneumonia, chronic bronchitis, cancer and other pathologies.

      Nearly 12 thousand electrocardiographic examinations helped identify various heart function disorders in a number of patients: arrhythmias, myocardial diseases and other pathologies. All patients were prescribed treatment or further examinations.

      In 4.2 thousand cases residents of Nizhny Novgorod required ultrasound examinations. Such diagnostics allow doctors to assess the condition of many internal organs and tissues.

      In 8.4 thousand cases mammography was performed on patients. This is a crucial examination for women over 40 — it allows, in particular, diagnosis of breast neoplasms, including cancer.

      The most common are analyses of biological fluids. To date, more than 63.4 thousand laboratory tests have been carried out on the "Health Trains."

      Recall that the "Health Trains" project has been implemented at the initiative of Nizhny Novgorod Region Governor Gleb Nikitin since 2018. The work of the mobile diagnostic units enables the achievement of the goals and objectives envisaged by the new national project "Longer and Active Life."

      The national project "Longer and Active Life" was launched in 2025 on the instructions of Russian President Vladimir Putin. It is aimed at the expected increase in life expectancy by 2030 and implies further renovation of polyclinics, outpatient clinics, feldsher-obstetric stations, attracting an increasing number of qualified medical personnel to medical institutions, applying new approaches to the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of chronic diseases, improving emergency medical care and the rehabilitation system, developing the network of national research centers, and digitalizing the sector. The national project includes 11 federal projects: "Health for Everyone," "Modernization of Primary Healthcare," "Medical Personnel," "Combating Cardiovascular Diseases," "Combating Oncological Diseases," "Combating Diabetes," "Combating Hepatitis and Minimizing the Risks of Disease Spread," "Improvement of Emergency Medical Care," "Development of Federal Medical Organizations, including development of the network of national research centers," the national platform "Health," and "Optimal Medical Rehabilitation for Health Recovery."
