      Fountains in Nizhny Novgorod will begin to be turned off closer to the end of September. This was reported to pravda-nn.ru by the city's Department of Improvement.

      The timing of the decommissioning will depend on weather conditions as well as the technical characteristics of each specific facility.

      The department explained that the shutdown process and the preparation of the fountains for the winter period will take place simultaneously. From October 1 to 15 specialists will carry out a full range of seasonal work: they will drain the water, dismantle pumps, light fixtures, nozzles, and electronic control systems.

      After that the fountains will be cleaned, and protective covers will be installed to preserve the structures during the cold season.

      The agency emphasized that such preventive measures must be carried out annually before the onset of frosts. This helps protect equipment from winter damage.

      Recall that the fountain season started this year on May 1.

      It was also reported that a landscaped square by the Ordzhonikidze Palace of Culture has opened in the Moskovsky District. The fountain there was restored.
