      A criminal case has been opened in the work settlement of Tumbotino on the murder of an elderly woman. This was reported by the Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee for the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

      The deceased woman's son is accused of the crime. According to investigators, the tragedy occurred in September. A conflict broke out between the man and his mother, during which he first beat the woman and then stabbed her in the chest. The victim died at the scene from her injuries.

      The accused was detained by officers of the Investigative Committee. During questioning he admitted that they had argued because of his craving for alcohol.

      As part of the investigation, the necessary investigative actions are being carried out to establish all the circumstances of the crime. The investigation has already submitted a motion to the court seeking pretrial detention.

      Earlier it was reported that a suspect in a brutal double murder involving decapitation was arrested in Nizhny Novgorod.
