Culture and Leisure From September 12 to 14, the international contemporary art fair Cosmoscow (18+) will take place in Moscow. The fair will feature the art-residency program of the Nizhny Novgorod region, which over three years has brought together dozens of artists from across Russia and abroad. Their works can now be seen at a dedicated booth at the exhibition.
The exhibition presents works by 31 authors from Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Volgograd, Nizhny Novgorod and even Senegal. All of them participated in the Nizhny Novgorod art residencies at different times and explored the region through art.
Each work reflects the artist’s personal view of the Nizhny Novgorod region. Some were inspired by architecture, others by the sunsets for which Nizhny Novgorod is called "the capital of sunsets." The concept of the exhibition is built around the image of the horizon — a symbolic boundary where past and present, city and nature meet. The techniques used in the works are varied.
At the booth you can not only view but also purchase some works. For sale are only those pieces that have not yet entered museums or private collections. Part of the proceeds will be directed to the development of the art-residency program itself.
In addition to visual art, visitors can listen to two audio works at the booth — "Breath" by Ilya Sharov and "Quiet with Oneself" by Ivan Shelobolin — as well as leaf through last season’s catalog and purchase the book "The Way to Zhuravizhnoe" by artist Tamara Shipitsyna.
The art-residency program is implemented with the support of the government of the Nizhny Novgorod region and the ANO "Center 800."
Ten venues participate in the program: Gallery 9B, the "Tikhaya" studio, Futuro Gallery, the Terminal A Center for Contemporary Art, the Vyksa art residency, the Center for Theatrical Mastery, an Orthodox art residency, an inclusive open residency, a museum residency based at NGHM, and a fashion art residency at "Nizhpoligraf."
Earlier it was reported that four front entrance doors were recreated for a house in the center of Nizhny Novgorod.
