An awards ceremony was held at the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin to present the Honorary Badge "Recognition" to the mothers of soldiers killed in the special military operation.

On September 8, 2025, a ceremony was held at the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin to present the Honorary Badge "Recognition" to 11 mothers of soldiers killed in the Special Military Operation. The ceremony was attended by Andrey Gneushev, Deputy Governor of Nizhny Novgorod Region; Olga Krasnova, Chair of the Regional Public Organization "Nizhny Novgorod Women's Council"; and mothers of the fallen SVO heroes from Dzerzhinsk, Pervomaisk, Vadsky, Gaginsky, Dalnekonstantinovsky, Koverninsky, Spassky municipal districts, and the Moskovsky and Sormovsky districts of Nizhny Novgorod.

The Regional Public Organization "Nizhny Novgorod Women's Council" established the award in 2024 for the mothers of soldiers as a token of gratitude and recognition for their maternal labor and for raising true patriots of Russia, defenders of the Fatherland who dutifully fulfilled their military service, for maternal valor and courage, and for the heroism of their sons. The first ten "Recognition" badges were presented to mothers of fallen soldiers in December 2024.

"It is a great honor for me to be here with you today. Your sons are true heroes! Their feats are an example of valiant service to their Motherland and fidelity to their country. Eternal and fond memory to each of them. My deep gratitude to you for having raised worthy men!" said Andrey Gneushev.

Among the fallen soldiers whose mothers received the award were privates, officers, mobilized servicemen, volunteers, and a military correspondent. Their names are well known to fellow residents of Nizhny Novgorod Region; memorial plaques have been unveiled in their honor and "Hero Desks" have been installed in the schools and organizations where they studied and worked.

"Today we have gathered here to express our deep recognition and bow to the mothers whose sons gave their lives defending each of us, our Motherland. Their names are forever inscribed in the history of Nizhny Novgorod Region and all of Russia. The feat of your sons will forever remain a moral compass for future generations, the highest expression of genuine patriotism. We thank you for raising true heroes," said Olga Krasnova in her speech.
