"The 'Heroes. Nizhny Novgorod Region' program provides indispensable knowledge and invaluable experience. In my student years I treated my studies more lightly, but now I try to absorb everything the instructors say, understanding how important it is," said SMO veteran and program participant Vladimir Petruhov.
The Hero is confident that the training will help him gain new knowledge and develop managerial competencies. Vladimir has 25 years of experience in the housing and communal services sector. The man admits that management, in his view, is a very complex type of activity.
"I compare management to parenting. I thought I knew how to raise children until I had a child of my own. Now I grow alongside my little daughter — grade by grade. That is why, thanks to the program, I want to become a more educated person who can lead people," he says.
Vladimir Petruhov currently works at the coordination center for supporting servicemen, mobilized personnel and their families at the ANO "House of People's Unity." Upon completion of the program he would like to continue working on issues of socialization and adaptation for SMO participants — possibly in a new position.
"The program is a real chance for participants of the special military operation. It is pleasant to gain knowledge as part of a team of like-minded people and to exchange experiences. After returning from the front my worldview completely changed: if before the SMO I expected some gifts from life, now I understand that I already have the main gift — life. You must value every day and try to live it usefully," Vladimir Petruhov shared.
Recall that the "Heroes. Nizhny Novgorod Region" program is aimed at integrating and providing employment for participants and veterans of the special military operation within the system of public administration. In March 2025 an agreement was signed between the government of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, RANEPA and KUPNO on cooperation in implementing this program.
Registration for participation in the "Heroes. Nizhny Novgorod Region" program closed on March 31. During the selection campaign 1,613 applications were received from Nizhny Novgorod residents.
Based on the total scores from questionnaires, testing, online interviews and assessments, as well as on the results of in-person interviews with the Deputy Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Andrey Gneushev, 60 participants were selected for the main educational program and 30 people were chosen for inclusion in the next cohort of the program upon returning to the region.
On August 4, 2025, the official opening of the training for the "Heroes. Nizhny Novgorod Region" program took place, with the governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Gleb Nikitin taking part in the ceremony. Sixty people selected to participate in the educational program began their studies.
