A new musical road marking has appeared on the M-12 high-speed highway connecting Moscow and Kazan, intended to improve road safety.
According to the Avtodor group of companies, motorists traveling along the route in both directions will now be able to hear the melody of the well-known folk song "Kalinka-Malinka."
The musical sections are located at kilometer 144 and 413 in the direction of Kazan, and at kilometer 260 toward Moscow. To hear the melody, it is necessary to drive at the permitted speed — only in this case the special grooves in the pavement create the required vibrations that turn into music.
According to specialists, such markings act similarly to rumble strips: they help drivers avoid falling asleep at the wheel, increase concentration, and encourage compliance with the speed limit. All this contributes to a reduction in accidents on the highway.
In addition, the innovation also has a tourist effect — the unusual form of interaction with the road makes the journey more memorable and may attract additional interest to the regions through which the highway passes.
The first musical road marking in Russia appeared in 2023 at kilometer 653 of the M-11 "Neva" motorway in the Leningrad Region. It was developed by specialists from the Avtodor group of companies using domestic software.
Earlier it was reported that the first hotel opened on the M-12 highway in the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
