The Yandex Lavka delivery service analyzed the preferences of Nizhny Novgorod students living in dormitories. The study showed that more than 40% of all orders are ready-made meals, and every tenth includes instant noodles.

The average check per order for students is between 1,300 and 1,400 rubles. At the same time, students most often choose products that do not require long cooking. Popular items include sausages, pelmeni, chebupizzas and chebupelis.

Among grocery products, instant noodles and instant mashed potatoes lead, as well as single-serve instant coffee drinks. Asian wok-style noodles are especially popular. When there is no time at all to cook, students prefer ready meals. They are included in almost every other order.

Food choices also depend on the educational institution. For example, students of the Higher School of Economics most often order chicken dishes, such as chicken Stroganoff and chicken sandwiches. At Minin University, onigiri with fillings of chicken, red fish or shrimp are popular. Future doctors from the Privolzhsky Research Medical University prefer hearty dishes: pasta carbonara and chicken schnitzel with mashed potatoes.

The greatest increase in the number of orders is recorded in the second half of December, when students are actively preparing for the winter exam session. During this period, demand for sweets and snacks rises by about 30%.

Sweet and salty snacks help cope with stress and maintain concentration while preparing for exams. Classic products during this period are chocolate, bars and chips — they become a kind of "fuel" for late-night study sessions and working with notes.

Among Nizhny Novgorod students' favorite snacks are chocolate bars and snack bars, which consistently rank among the top orders in December.

It was previously reported that Nizhny Novgorod students and schoolchildren will be able to ride suburban trains at a 50% discount.
