Rosatom CEO Alexey Likhachev said that during Vladimir Putin's August trip to Sarov the president focused primarily on the topic of Russia's nuclear triad.
According to Likhachev, such an emphasis was voiced during the head of state's visit and was identified as the country's key competitive advantage. He said this at a session of the Eastern Economic Forum "500 years on the horizon: from discoveries to innovations of the Northern Sea Route," RIA Novosti reports.
"Being in Sarov the Friday before last, Vladimir Vladimirovich spoke most of all about another main competitive advantage of the Russian Federation — the nuclear triad... We continue to strengthen this advantage," Likhachev said.
The president's trip to Sarov took place on August 22, on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the domestic nuclear industry. Putin visited the Russian Federal Nuclear Center — the All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Experimental Physics (RFNC-VNIIEF).
As part of the visit he viewed an exhibition on scientific and educational infrastructure in cities of special significance and met with young employees of enterprises in the nuclear industry.
