Society — A delegation from the Consulate General of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Kazan arrived on a working visit to the Nizhny Novgorod region. The delegation was headed by Consul General Nodirjon Kasimov. The main purpose of the visit is to strengthen ties between the regions of the two countries and to develop cooperation in trade, education and culture.
As part of the trip, a meeting was held between the Deputy Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Andrey Gneushev, and representatives of the Uzbek side. The event was also attended by ministers and representatives of the region’s relevant agencies, including the Minister of International and Interregional Relations Olga Guseva, the Minister of Tourism and Handicrafts Sergei Yakovlev, as well as representatives of the Russian Foreign Ministry and the employment service.
Andrey Gneushev emphasized that the Republic of Uzbekistan is an important partner for the Nizhny Novgorod region in a number of areas. According to him, cooperation agreements have already been concluded with several regions of Uzbekistan, and interaction continues to develop.
“We highly value the current level of engagement and strive to expand it further, especially in the trade-economic and educational spheres. This opens up new opportunities for mutual growth,” the deputy governor said.
Special attention during the meeting was paid to educational cooperation. As Olga Guseva said, the Nizhny Novgorod region has become one of the main centers of attraction for students from Uzbekistan. More than 1,500 students from that country study at the region’s universities — about 20% of the total number of foreign students.
“This is the result of serious joint work. We have more than 60 agreements between educational institutions. Students from Uzbekistan actively participate in key regional and international events, demonstrating not only an interest in knowledge but also a desire to develop intercultural dialogue,” the minister stressed.
Consul General Nodirjon Kasimov thanked the Nizhny Novgorod side for the warm welcome and expressed satisfaction with the results of the visit. He noted that Uzbekistan attaches great importance to the development of interregional cooperation with Russian regions, especially with the Nizhny Novgorod region.
“Yesterday we had a wonderful tour of the city, and I was pleasantly surprised by what I saw. We are confident that the signed agreements cover all key areas — from the economy to science and culture. Thanks to the reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan, effective mechanisms for cooperation have been created today, and we are ready to develop them,” Kasimov said.
During the visit the Uzbek delegation also took an overview tour of Nizhny Novgorod and laid flowers at the Eternal Flame. In addition, negotiations are planned with Nizhny Novgorod entrepreneurs interested in expanding cooperation and implementing joint projects.
Earlier, the Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Gleb Nikitin, presented the industrial and scientific-educational potential of the region during a working meeting with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Recall that Russia and Uzbekistan will cooperate in the field of tourism.
