Sokolsky manager to be sentenced for 28 million-ruble fraud.

      The Prosecutor’s Office of the Nizhny Novgorod Region has approved an indictment against a resident of the Sokolskoye work settlement. The woman is accused of fraud on a significant, large and especially large scale — under parts 2–4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

      According to the investigation, the defendant worked as a manager at the credit and consumer cooperative "Nizhny Novgorod Credit Union 'Mutual Investments–Gorodets'." From February 2022 to October 2024, abusing her official position, she concluded forged agreements to transfer personal savings with clients who had applied to the cooperative.

      At the same time, clients’ data were not entered into the database. Moreover, the defendant used their personal information without the knowledge of the clients themselves. On their behalf she arranged loans that were subsequently not repaid. The woman appropriated all the funds received and spent them on her own needs.

      According to investigators, her actions caused total damage to the cooperative and its clients in excess of 28.5 million rubles.

      The criminal case has been sent to the Koverninsky District Court for consideration on the merits.

      It was previously reported that fraudsters managed to extort 3.5 million rubles from a resident of Nizhny Novgorod.

      It was also reported that scammers convinced a Nizhny Novgorod pensioner to sell her apartment and hand over the money to them.
