IncidentsA criminal case has been opened in the Nizhny Novgorod region against an employee of the office of one of the mobile operators who illegally transferred confidential information to a third party.
According to the regional FSB and the Investigative Committee’s investigative directorate, while working in a sales office in the Vyksunsky district, the man used his official access to the subscriber database. For monetary compensation he copied personal data and handed it over to a previously unknown person without the consent of the information’s owner.
The violation was uncovered by officers of the regional FSB and Interior Ministry directorates. As a result of joint operational actions, the unlawful activity was stopped.
The Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod region opened a criminal case under Part 3 of Article 272 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation — unlawful access to computer information protected by law, committed for mercenary motives using an official position.
At present the suspect is under a travel restriction. He has pleaded guilty and is cooperating with the investigation.
Earlier it was reported that a Nizhny Novgorod resident had been detained for leaking data to Ukrainian intelligence services.
