      More than 12 years of imprisonment in a strict-regime correctional colony will be served by a man who committed violence against an 11-year-old girl. According to the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod Region, police detained a 19-year-old young man in May 2025 after the mother of a fifth-grader contacted the Kstovo police department with a statement that an unknown person had committed sexual acts with her daughter. Shortly before the incident, the girl had met a native of a Central Asian republic who presented himself as a 15-year-old and chatted with her in a messenger app. On May 19, 2025, during a walk the assailant led the child to a garage complex, where he committed the acts that prompted her mother to go to the police. Based on the police investigation materials, an investigator from the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the region opened a criminal case, and the suspect was arrested. By court sentence the man was given a punishment of 12 years and 3 months of imprisonment to be served in a strict-regime correctional colony.
