      New additional academic buildings were constructed for School No. 188 and School No. 96 in Nizhny Novgorod. As reported by the Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Gleb Nikitin, they will begin operating on September 1.

      "We are not only building entirely new schools, but also increasing the capacity of existing educational institutions. The building of School No. 188 on Heroes of Donbass Avenue will accommodate 800 children, and the building of School No. 96 on Ukrainskaya Street – 825. Bringing these buildings into service will allow us to relieve educational institutions in two neighborhoods, make the learning process more comfortable for many students and teachers. The overarching goal is to completely eliminate the second shift in the region," said Gleb Nikitin.

      As noted by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, the new school buildings were constructed under the state program "Creation of New Places in General Educational Organizations of the Nizhny Novgorod Region." In total, more than 3.3 billion rubles were allocated for the construction: about 1.6 billion rubles for the building of School No. 188 and almost 1.7 billion rubles for the building of School No. 96.

      The construction of the academic buildings was carried out under a concession agreement concluded between the government of the Nizhny Novgorod Region and the Regional Development Corporation.

      "The concession mechanism allows such important facilities to be built without a one-time burden on the regional budget. At the same time, quality is maintained: all new buildings are equipped to the most modern standards," said Igor Ishchenko, General Director of the Regional Development Corporation of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

      A distinctive feature of the new building of School No. 96, according to Principal Natalya Ershova, is the sensible separation of flows of primary and middle school students. For example, two universal gymnasiums were built: one on the first floor for primary school students, and one on the second floor for middle and upper-grade students. The dining hall is also divided into corresponding zones.

      "Our school has specialized medical classes, so we paid special attention to equipping teaching laboratories for subjects such as Chemistry and Biology. There is everything here to give children the best possible education and genuinely engage them in medical science," said the principal.

      The new building of School No. 188 also includes two gymnasiums. In addition, a fitness room and a rhythmics and choreography classroom have been allocated for sports activities.

      The head of the educational organization, Olga Mityasova, emphasized that the building also has a modern medical office.

      "Both buildings feature assembly halls with dressing rooms and prop storage rooms, libraries with book storage, home economics and cooking classrooms, workshops for working with textiles, wood, and metal. Sports and play areas have been created on the adjacent grounds," the regional Ministry of Education and Science reported.

      When designing the schools, attention was also paid to creating an accessible environment: there are ramps at the entrances, buildings are equipped with elevators and separate restrooms for people with limited mobility on each floor.

      Recall that creating comfortable conditions for children to receive an education is one of the most important tasks of the new national project 'Youth and Children.' The national project has been implemented at the instruction of the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, since 2025. It includes nine federal projects and programs: "Russia — Land of Opportunities," "We Are Together," "Russia in the World," "All the Best for Children," "Leading Schools," "Teachers and Mentors," "Creating a Network of Modern Campuses," "Universities for the Generation of Leaders," and "Professionalitet."
