Nizhny Novgorod schoolchildren and students will be able to travel on commuter trains at a 50% discount.

      Schoolchildren and students of the Nizhny Novgorod and Vladimir regions, as well as the Udmurt Republic, can use regional concessions when traveling on suburban trains of the Gorky Railway. The discount is 50% off the ticket price, the Gorky Railway press service reported.

      Since the beginning of 2025, residents of Nizhny Novgorod Region registered the largest number of discounted trips — more than 1.2 million. Of these, students used discounted trains 968 thousand times, and schoolchildren made 154 thousand trips.

      Vladimir Region was in second place — there students used the concession more than 113 thousand times, and schoolchildren nearly 14 thousand times. In third place was the Udmurt Republic, where students made almost 16 thousand trips with the regional discount, and schoolchildren about 2 thousand.

      To confirm eligibility for the concession, it is necessary to present a certificate from the educational institution and/or a student ID.

      In Nizhny Novgorod Region, schoolchildren and students can buy half-price tickets from January 1 to June 30 and from September 1 to December 31. The concession applies upon presentation of a document from the educational organization.

      Vladimir Region also provides students with a 50-percent discount from January 1 to June 15 and from September 1 to December 31. The discount applies to trips within the region, regardless of where the educational institution is located or where the route runs.

      In the Udmurt Republic the concession operates similarly: a 50% discount is provided annually from January through June and from September through December.

      The right to discounted travel is available to schoolchildren enrolled in primary, basic and secondary general education programs; full-time students of colleges and universities (bachelor’s, specialist, master’s programs); as well as postgraduates, medical residents and assistant trainees. The concession is provided regardless of the students’ place of residence and the location of the educational organization.
