      On September 6 from 10:00 to 14:00 in Nizhny Novgorod near the boat "Hero" the second stage of the All-Russian torch relay "Fire of Life" (0+) will take place. The initiative is aimed at recruiting new donors to the Federal Register of Bone Marrow Donors to save patients with leukemia and serious diseases requiring transplantation.

      The relay is organized by the FMBA of Russia, the Good Deeds Foundation "Blagodestvie" and the Fund for Support of Social Initiatives "Fire of Life." The first stage united more than 50 cities, attracting over 84,000 participants, of whom 50,000 donated blood, and the register grew by 8,000 donors.

      Today the Federal Register lists more than 490,000 donors. The chances of finding a compatible donor for a patient with leukemia are small — 1 in 10,000. Participation in the relay will allow each Nizhny Novgorod resident to contribute to saving lives.

      In Nizhny Novgorod there will be blood drives with the participation of the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Blood Center named after N.Ya. Klimova, POMTs and the Nizhny Novgorod branch of "Rosplasma." To join the register you need to complete a questionnaire and provide 4 ml of venous blood. You must bring your passport and SNILS.

      Torchbearers of the relay will be donors, volunteers and sports enthusiasts. The route will run along the Nizhnevolzhskaya and Verkhnevolzhskaya embankments, as well as via the Georgievsky and Kazansky ramps.
