Three orphaned children were returned to children's homes in the Nizhny Novgorod Region during 2024 and 2025. NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" was told this by the regional Ministry of Social Policy.
According to the agency, from the beginning of 2025 and as of 28 August, 14 children were adopted in the region. Throughout 2024, 18 orphans were placed with families.
As clarified by the regional Ministry of Social Policy, as of today there are 615 children in the Nizhny Novgorod Region who have been left without parental care. Of these, 150 are children with disabilities.
It was previously reported that the number of children sent to children's homes, shelters and baby homes in the Nizhny Novgorod Region continues to decline.
It was also reported that three residents of Nizhny Novgorod Region boarding schools have been able to return to their biological relatives since the beginning of the year.
