      Society. In Russia the first criminal case has been recorded against a dog owner for allowing their dog to roam free. In the town of Olenegorsk in the Murmansk Region, the owner of a Doberman became a defendant in a case of causing grievous bodily harm through negligence. This was reported by the TV channel "360".

      According to the information provided, in April 2025 the man released his dog onto the street without a muzzle and a leash. During the walk the Doberman collided with an 80-year-old woman in the yard of her home. As a result of the incident the elderly woman sustained serious injuries and was hospitalized.

      On the basis of this case a criminal case was opened under the article on causing grievous bodily harm. The owner was ordered to sign an undertaking not to leave. This incident underscores the importance of responsible pet ownership and the need to observe the rules for walking dogs.

      Recall that since 2023 a law banning the free roaming of dogs and cats has been in force in Russia. And in November last year the State Duma approved fines for walking dogs without a muzzle.
