A new mural, "Temple of Labor," has appeared in OMK's industrial street art park in Vyksa. It was created by Yekaterinburg artists from the Spektr team with the support of the Stenka art group. This is already the fifth work in the park's collection, located on the grounds of the OMK plant.
The 2,400-sq.-m mural adorns the wall of Pipe Electric Welding Shop No. 3. The authors dedicated it to the role of the working person in the history of industry. The composition is executed in a solemn manner and emphasizes that the labor of each generation contributes to the development of their native region.
Before starting work, the artists familiarized themselves with the production process and spoke with plant workers and city residents. "Temple of Labor" consists of five large and five small frescoes. The upper part of the wall depicts key stages in the history of Vyksa and the plant: the activities of the Batashov brothers, the creation of the hydrosystem, the construction of the first metallurgical enterprise, the launch of steam engines and the industrial revolution, as well as scenes from contemporary factory workshops. The lower part features symbols of the city's engineering heritage — the Vyksa ponds, the water tower by engineer Vladimir Shukhov, and the coat of arms of Vyksa depicting a unicorn.
A distinctive feature of the work is the use of 3D techniques that create a bas-relief effect. The artists were inspired by the ancient friezes of the Parthenon, which gave the project an architectural character.
The project's author, Andrey Kolokolov, noted that he sought to make the mural understandable to every worker. He emphasized that the piece is a tribute to working people, including his own parents, and also connects the past and the present, showing that the future is being created by the hands of plant workers today.
Yulia Mishina, CEO of the OMK-Uchastie foundation, stressed that placing monumental works on the walls of an active plant makes Vyksa unique among cities with developed street-art scenes. According to her, the new mural is dedicated to the role of the working person in the history of metallurgy and expresses respect for the past and confidence in the future of the plant and the city.
