An employee of the Nizhny Novgorod pre-trial detention center was sentenced to four years in prison for taking a bribe.

      Incidents: A Nizhny Novgorod court found an on-duty officer of SIZO-1 of the Main Directorate of the Federal Penitentiary Service (GUFSIN) of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod Region guilty of receiving a large bribe.

      Investigative actions were carried out by officers of the investigative department for the Nizhegorodsky district of the city of Nizhny Novgorod under the regional Investigative Committee. The evidence presented was deemed by the court sufficient to deliver a guilty verdict.

      According to the investigation, in June 2025 the convicted man received a monetary reward of 155,000 rubles from a relative of an inmate. For this sum he agreed to pass prohibited items into the correctional facility — mobile phones with SIM cards and tobacco products.

      As a result of the trial the man was sentenced to four years' imprisonment to be served in a strict-regime penal colony. In addition, he was deprived of the right to hold positions in the civil service and local government for three years.

      Earlier it was reported that the former head of the warehouse at the city hospital in Avtozavod was put on trial for receiving large bribes.
