Firefighters evacuated 40 people from a burning building in Sormovo.

      Incidents: A fire broke out in an apartment building on Geroev Kosmosa Street in the Sormovsky district of Nizhny Novgorod. The blaze started in the kitchen of one of the apartments, covering an area of about 15 square meters.

      EMERCOM personnel promptly arrived at the scene. Thanks to their actions, four people were rescued and another 40 residents evacuated, including five children.

      Thirty-four EMERCOM specialists and 12 units of specialized equipment took part in extinguishing the fire.

      According to preliminary data, the cause of the fire was careless handling of fire. The circumstances of the incident are being clarified.

      Earlier it was reported that investigators are establishing the circumstances of a man's death in a fire in the Nizhny Novgorod settlement of Sukhobezvodnoye.
