Deputies of the Sormovsky District met with the families of SVO participants.

      On August 27, 2025, at the Sormovo Center for Children's Creativity, a meeting of the district administration with the families of participants in the special military operation (SMO) was held as part of the “Backpack for a First-Grader” campaign. Deputies of the City Duma Evgeny Kostin, Mikhail Ivanov, Pavel Pashinin and Sergey Plyaskin also attended the event.

      The meeting opened with a greeting from the head of the Sormovo district administration, Svetlana Gorbunova. According to her, the “Backpack for a First-Grader” campaign traditionally takes place on the eve of Knowledge Day. This year, children from the families of servicemen participating in the SMO received their first school backpacks. “A huge, heartfelt thank you to everyone who responded and took part in this important campaign. Supporting the families of our defenders is what gives them strength and confidence. I wish all our first-graders exciting discoveries, true friends, joy in learning, and a bright start to an amazing school journey!” said Svetlana Gorbunova.

      First Deputy Chairman of the City Duma Evgeny Kostin sent the first-graders off with kind words: “Very soon a new, very important stage will begin for you — school life. Ahead will be the first lessons, new friends, and interesting discoveries. Move forward boldly, believe in your abilities and always remember that hard work and the pursuit of knowledge open up great opportunities.”

      City Duma deputy Pavel Pashinin joined his colleague’s remarks. “We all understand how important it is for our servicemen to feel that their greater and smaller Motherland stands behind them, that fellow townspeople are taking care of their families and their children. I want to wish the young citizens a successful start to the land of Knowledge. May your studies be easy, and may the school year be fun and engaging,” he said.

      The importance of attention to the families of the defenders of the Fatherland was also noted by their relatives. “Today’s celebration became another confirmation that we and our children are at the center of society’s and the state’s attention. This care and involvement, especially at such a responsible moment as preparing a child for the first grade, are very valuable to all of us,” expressed one of the meeting participants, the wife of an SMO serviceman.

      From the district administration, each small participant in the meeting received a backpack and a first-grader kit with the stationery necessary for school. Deputies of the City Duma spoke with the future first-graders and their parents.

      “In school you, children, will receive not only fundamental knowledge but also invaluable experience and find friends. An interesting path full of discoveries and victories lies ahead! May luck always accompany you on this path!” addressed the children Mikhail Ivanov.

      “The first bell, the first backpack, the first teacher — these are symbols of a big and touching event for the whole family. It is important that this day be remembered by our children with smiles, the joy of discoveries, and the anticipation of everything interesting that awaits them in the new school year. We adults can support our first-graders during this responsible period of their lives and help make the first of September special,” Sergey Plyaskin shared with the parents.
