      The FSB Directorate for the Nizhny Novgorod Region has halted the illegal activities of a local resident suspected of financially supporting an extremist organization.

      According to the security agency's press service, the man knowingly transferred funds to foreign bank accounts of an organization that has been designated as extremist and banned in Russia. He acted intentionally, understanding the public danger of his actions.

      The investigative department of the regional FSB opened a criminal case under Part 1 of Article 282.3 of the Russian Criminal Code — financing extremist activity.

      During operational measures at the suspect's place of residence, a search was conducted. Security forces seized electronic equipment and communication devices that may contain evidence of his illegal activities.

      It should be recalled that former deputy chairman of the Nizhny Novgorod regional branch of the Yabloko party, Alexey Sadomovsky, has been included in the list of terrorists and extremists.

      Previously, it was reported that a refugee from Abkhazia was stripped of Russian citizenship for extremism in Nizhny Novgorod.
