      Petr Bannnikov plans to leave his post as deputy governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region in the near future. A source in the regional government confirmed the information to NIA "Nizhny Novgorod."

      It is known that the deputy governor decided to resign of his own accord. At the same time, according to the source, Bannnikov will generally remain working within the regional head's team.

      As deputy governor, Petr Bannnikov oversaw a number of key areas: the Ministry of Regional Security, the Department of Mobilization Preparedness, the office for supporting the activities of justices of the peace, the bar and notary services, the Committee for Archives Affairs, as well as the Office for the Protection of State Secrets of the Nizhny Novgorod region.

      At the next session of the region’s Legislative Assembly, deputies will consider awarding Petr Bannnikov the Order "For Civil Valor and Honor" III class for many years of conscientious work and his substantial contribution to the implementation of the Nizhny Novgorod regional government's powers in ensuring the region's public, economic and information security.

      Recall that Bannnikov was appointed deputy head of the region in the autumn of 2021, after his predecessor Dmitry Krasnov left to work in the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod region. Prior to that, the official served for several years as deputy head of the FSB directorate for the Nizhny Novgorod region.
