Voting has begun in Russia for sparsely populated localities — villages and settlements with populations from 100 to 1,000 people where residents consider it necessary to connect communications in 2026.
Applications are accepted until November 9 via the Gosuslugi portal and by mail to the Ministry of Digital Development of the Russian Federation at: 123112, Moscow, Presnenskaya Embankment, bldg. 10, str. 2. A letter may be signed by several people at once — each person's vote will be counted. It should state the name, registration address and the settlement where internet access is required.
After the results are tallied, a list will be compiled of settlements where 2G/4G base stations will be installed. They will provide voice service and mobile internet.
Voting for internet connections has been held annually since 2021. As a result, 5,200 base stations have already been installed in small settlements, more than 500 of them domestically produced.
Recall that the development of communications infrastructure and the expansion of internet access in remote and hard-to-reach sparsely populated localities is in line with the objectives of the national project "Data Economy and Digital Transformation of the State," being implemented in Russia at the instruction of the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin.
