The court ordered that a plot on the shore of the Gorky Reservoir be returned to the state. This was reported by the Volga Interregional Environmental Prosecutor's Office.
According to it, an inspection conducted by the Nizhny Novgorod Interdistrict Environmental Prosecutor's Office revealed a gross violation of water and land legislation. Within the boundaries of the Chkalovsk urban district, a citizen registered as his property a plot of more than 500 square meters. It included the shoreline strip and part of the water area of the Gorky Reservoir — territories that belong to public lands and the water fund and are not subject to privatization.
To restore legality, the prosecutor filed a lawsuit demanding that the plot be withdrawn from illegal possession. The court found the claims well founded and ruled to return the disputed territory to the state.
After the decision comes into force, the prosecutor's office will monitor its enforcement.
Earlier it was reported that a resident of Bor appropriated 1,800 sq. meters of the shoreline of the Cheboksary Reservoir. That plot was also returned to the state.
