SocietySix settlements in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast became winners of the All-Russian competition of small towns and historic settlements. This was reported by the region’s governor, Gleb Nikitin.

Funding will be received for improvement projects in Dzerzhinsk (Theatre Square), Gorodets (A.V. Vorozheikin Square), Diveyevo (the central square by the Holy Gates), Lukoyanov (Mira Square), Bogorodsk (Leninsky Komsomol Park) and Vetluga (historic center).

According to the head of the region, about 520 million rubles from the federal budget will be allocated in 2026 for the implementation of these projects. The regional budget will contribute the same amount, and participation of extrabudgetary sources is also planned.

Gleb Nikitin noted that Nizhny Novgorod Oblast has again become one of the leaders in the number of supported initiatives. He linked the success to the high-quality preparation of the projects and the active participation of local residents.

"With the addition of the new winners, the total number of projects that have received support in the region over the entire period of participation in the competition has reached 47," the governor emphasized.

In addition, as part of interregional cooperation, support has been provided for the second year in a row to cities of the Donetsk People’s Republic. This year grants were awarded to improvement projects for the central part of Zugres and a park in Ilovaisk.

"Congratulations to all the winners and my thanks to the expert jury, and personally to Marat Shakirzyanovich Khusnullin and Irek Envarovich Fayzullin for their high appraisal and support of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast," added Gleb Nikitin.

Earlier it was reported that about 5 million rubles will be allocated for the improvement of the coastal area by Kudma in Kstovo.
