      Trainees of the international session of the military-patriotic camp “I Want to Become a Paratrooper” of the municipal center “Nadezhda” will make solo parachute jumps on August 22, the Day of the State Flag of the Russian Federation, the Department of Social Policy of the city of Nizhny Novgorod reported.

      To be cleared for the jump, each trainee undergoes training and also takes practical and theoretical exams at the camp. “During airborne training the children reviewed the theory and began practical exercises. The construction and control of the parachute, the specifics of the exit during the jump, and landing rules were practiced on a suspension-system trainer and on the parade ground under the instructor’s supervision,” the department said.

      Instructors will make jumps together with the young paratroopers. In honor of the Day of the State Flag, experienced athletes will unfurl in the sky, together with their parachutes, the flags of the Russian Federation, the “I Want to Become a Paratrooper” military-patriotic camp, and the Maxim Nastin Center for Military-Patriotic Education.

      After the jump, on the aerodrome grounds the camp trainees will demonstrate their training and cohesion in a musical-march routine with the flags of their countries. During the continuation of the celebration the children will show skills acquired during the international session at the camp: saber drill, kettlebell work, jumps over obstacles and a burning hoop, elements of weapon handling and self-defense techniques. The demonstrations will conclude with a “human” tower bearing the flag of Russia and the flag of the “I Want to Become a Paratrooper” camp.

      The international session of the military-patriotic camp “I Want to Become a Paratrooper” has brought together more than 90 teenagers aged 14 to 17 from Nizhny Novgorod, Luhansk, Minsk (Republic of Belarus) and Sukhumi (Republic of Abkhazia). The ceremonial presentation to the young parachutists of the “Parachutist’s Certificate” will take place on August 25, the day the international session ends, at the memorial complex dedicated to the soldiers from Gorky who died during the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945.
