SocietyThree schoolchildren from the Nizhny Novgorod region took first places in the cultural-historical contest “I am Proud” (12+), which was dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory and the selfless labor feat of the home front in the Great Patriotic War and was held as part of the “Morfest-2025” project in the Cities of Labor Valor: Nizhny Novgorod (Gorky), Kostroma, Yaroslavl and Cherepovets.

Young people aged 14–17 from these heroic cities were invited to immerse themselves in the history of their small homeland and present a work titled “Labor Feat. How It Was” in the categories “History,” “Literature” and “Painting.”

Youth from the Nizhny Novgorod region responded particularly actively to the call. The region became the leader in the number of submissions, and experts from the Nizhny Novgorod region played a key role in organizing the final stage: they carried out a thorough examination of all entries, made an invaluable contribution to determining the winners and prizeholders, and selected the best works in the “Painting” category to form a traveling art exhibition “Labor Valor. How It Was,” which will be shown in the Cities of Labor Valor as well as in Moscow.

“The participants’ works impressed with their depth of immersion in history, emotionality and personal connection to the fates of their ancestors. Each work is a sincere look at a heroic past, a living thread linking 1945 and 2025, proof that the memory of the labor feat is alive, and the phrase ‘Everything for the front, everything for Victory!’ takes on real meaning and deep respect for the young people,” the contest organizers noted.

Recall that the winners of the “I am Proud” contest who take first places will receive a chance to participate in the festival program, which is part of the nationwide project “Youth Music Festival ‘Melodies of Victorious Spring’,” held with the support of the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives and the government of the Nizhny Novgorod region. The festival will launch from Nizhny Novgorod on September 21, 2025 and will conclude with ceremonial events in Moscow on September 27, 2025.

The winners from the Nizhny Novgorod region were Artem Shishov from School No. 37 (Nizhny Novgorod) in the “History” category; Dmitry Okunev from Oshminskaya Secondary School of Tonshaevsky District in the “Literature” category; Alina Larina from the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Special Boarding School for Blind and Visually Impaired Children in the “Painting” category.

The contest results are published on the project website: https://morfest2025.ru/.

On September 21, 2025, the traveling exhibition of the best works in the “Painting” category will open at the Komediya Theatre in Nizhny Novgorod, and a ceremonial awarding of the winners and nominees will take place. As part of the special events program “Labor Valor. How It Was,” there will be a ceremonial assembly, laying of flowers at the Eternal Flame and the monument “To Gorky Residents — Valiant Home Front Workers.” Participants will visit the museums of the history of the Gorky Automobile Plant and the Krasnoye Sormovo plant.

The project received support from the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation, the Federal Service of National Guard Troops of the Russian Federation, and the governments of Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, Kostroma, Yaroslavl and Vologda regions.
