Two Nizhny Novgorod residents were detained on suspicion of drug trafficking.

      Incidents. In the Moskovsky District, officers of the sixth department of the Directorate for the Control of Drug Trafficking detained two men suspected of involvement in the illegal circulation of prohibited substances. This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

      The first arrested was a 54-year-old local resident. His car was stopped for inspection, and in the cabin police found a paper package with an unknown substance and electronic scales. An examination showed that the package contained methadone weighing just over two grams.

      After that, the police tracked down the alleged drug dealer — a 36-year-old man who had previously had run-ins with the law. He was detained, and a personal search found four packages with different substances.

      In addition, searches of his car and apartment uncovered 13 blister packs of tablets containing pregabalin. Three of the seized packages, experts found, also contained methadone — this time almost 4.2 grams.

      A criminal case has been opened against the 54-year-old under the article related to drug possession. He was released under a written undertaking not to leave.

      The alleged dealer, however, was charged more seriously under the article on distribution of drugs on a large scale. He was remanded in custody.

      Earlier it was reported that a cat used as a drug courier was detained in a penal colony in the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
