      The Investigative Committee of Russia has opened a criminal case for a terrorist act in connection with attacks by Ukrainian drones on civilian infrastructure in the Nizhny Novgorod region. In the Kstovsky district, a power transmission line was damaged as a result of a UAV strike, the agency’s information center reports.

      The incident occurred on August 16–17, 2025 during a series of attacks on Russian regions. In addition to the Nizhny Novgorod region, facilities in the Voronezh and Astrakhan regions were affected. In Voronezh, an apartment building was damaged, and in Liski a person was injured and commercial facilities were damaged.

      Earlier, the Investigative Committee also opened a terrorism case in connection with an attempted attack on the Smolensk NPP, where a drone was neutralized in time. The authorities of the Nizhny Novgorod region are taking additional security measures to protect critically important facilities.
