Residents of Nizhny Novgorod reacted differently to possible restrictions on voice and video calls in popular messengers Telegram and WhatsApp*. This is evidenced by a survey conducted by the SuperJob service among the city's economically active population.

According to the study, just over a third of respondents (38%) support the restrictions. These respondents believe such measures could improve safety and encourage in-person communication. Comments included opinions such as: "It's about security" and "We'll spend more time communicating in person."

Half of respondents (50%) expressed dissatisfaction with such initiatives. They are convinced the restrictions will create inconveniences for ordinary users while failing to stop fraudsters. People complained that it will particularly hit shift workers, cutting them off from loved ones, and make work harder for remote employees.

The study also revealed gender and age differences in how the issue is perceived. Men are more likely to oppose the restrictions, while women show greater support. Young people under 35 are skeptical: 54% of respondents in this age group expressed opposition. At the same time, among citizens over 45 the approval rate reaches 42%.

Income also affects positions: among city residents earning more than 100,000 rubles, 52% opposed restricting calls, higher than among less affluent respondents.

It was previously reported that Roskomnadzor is restricting calls via Telegram and WhatsApp* to combat fraud, extortion and involvement in sabotage and terrorist activities.
