Nizhny Novgorod entered the top 15 cities by number of dentists.

      Nizhny Novgorod has become one of Russia’s leading cities in terms of the number and qualifications of dentists. These data were published by the analytical group Progress, which studied the dental services market across the country, reports editor-in-chief of MIA "Stacionar-press" Alexey Nikonov.

      According to the study, about 2,500 dentists work in the city. This represents 3.14% of the total number of specialists in Russia and slightly exceeds the figures for large cities such as Ufa and Kazan. Thus, Nizhny Novgorod ranked in the top 15 by number of dentists.

      Experts paid particular attention to the level of professional training. In Nizhny Novgorod, 4.07% of dentists hold a Candidate of Medical Sciences degree. Only Moscow has a higher figure. There are significantly fewer Doctors of Sciences in the sector.

      These figures confirm the high standard of the Nizhny Novgorod dental school. Nikonov recalled that specialist training in this field has been conducted in the city since 1988.

      The study also addressed the issue of accessibility of dental services. In Nizhny Novgorod, 80–90% of specialists accept patients for an initial examination at a price of less than 1,500 rubles. This is comparable to Omsk and Perm. In Kazan, about 30% of doctors offer consultations for up to 500 rubles.

      Analysts note that, across the country, the cost of an initial dental appointment can differ by a factor of 270; such a gap is recorded between capital and regional clinics.

      Earlier it was reported that dental clinics in Arzamas and Dzerzhinsk joined the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Dentistry.
