Control over underage drivers of motorized vehicles has been stepped up in Sergachsky District.

      Unscheduled raids aimed at suppressing traffic violations by underage riders of motorized vehicles were carried out in the area served by the Traffic Police Department of the Sergach Intermunicipal Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia. The activities were held from 20:00 to 23:00 with the participation of traffic police officers, the juvenile affairs unit, the voluntary people's patrol “Sergachanin” and the parents' committee.

      Riders of motorized vehicles were checked in high-risk areas — near parks, residential neighborhoods and on busy streets of the town of Sergach.

      As a result, 12 administrative offenses were identified:

      - 6 protocols under Part 1 of Article 5.35 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Russian Federation (failure by parents to fulfil duties regarding the maintenance and upbringing of minors).

      - 4 protocols under Part 3 of Article 12.7 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Russian Federation (handing over the control of a vehicle to a person who clearly does not have the right to drive).

      - 2 protocols under Part 1 of Article 12.7 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Russian Federation (driving a vehicle by a driver who does not have the right to drive).

      “Every case when a teenager gets behind the wheel without a license is a risk not only for them but also for others,” the State Traffic Inspectorate officers emphasize following the raids. The police recommend that citizens do not buy motorized equipment for children under 16 who do not have a category “M” or “A1” driving licence; supervise adolescents’ leisure activities and explain to them the consequences of traffic violations.

      Remember that operating motorized vehicles without a licence carries a fine of 5,000 to 15,000 rubles, and handing over control to a minor can result in a fine of up to 30,000 rubles for the vehicle owner.
