      The court in Dzerzhinsk has ordered detention in custody for a 40-year-old local resident suspected of murdering a 48-year-old woman. This was announced after consideration of an investigator’s petition, which was supported by the prosecutor’s office, the Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod Region reports.

      The man will remain under arrest for two months. He is accused of murder.

      Recall that the tragedy occurred in a wooded area near the Volozhka River. It was there that the victim’s body was found. During operational measures the alleged perpetrator — a resident of Dzerzhinsk — was detained; he confessed to the crime.

      The investigation established that the man attacked an unknown woman, strangled her, struck her multiple times on the head with a hammer, committed acts of a sexual nature, then stole money and fled the scene.

      The investigation continues.

      Earlier it was reported that the woman worked as a social worker and taught oriental dance in the evenings.
