      Early in the morning, a fire broke out in a residential house on Sadovaya Street in the village of Shcherbachikha in the Voskresensky District, the Nizhny Novgorod Region Emergency Situations Ministry reported.

      The flames engulfed an area of 72 square meters. Ten EMERCOM personnel and five units of equipment worked at the scene. The open flames were extinguished.

      "Unfortunately, a woman died as a result of the fire. Her identity is currently being established," the agency said.

      According to preliminary information, the fire was caused by a violation of the rules for operating electrical equipment.

      Earlier it was reported that on August 11 a 44-year-old woman died in a fire in a residential house in the village of Krasny Vatras in Spassky District.
